5G wireless network roll-out is progressing worldwide. If a city or highway is covered by 5G wireless technology, then it is logical and natural to connect C-V2X RSUs to the 5G MNO core network and provide V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) services via that 5G network. By "connect" we mean to employ the 5G wireless or backhaul links to exchange data between the 5G infrastructure and C-V2X RSUs. C-V2X data analytics software should be deployed in 5G MEC infrastructure to monetize the V2V and V2I data available in the system. The C-V2X data analytics software could be operated using a SaaS model in the 5G MEC infrastructure. The road owner (operator), Public Safety (PS) agencies, public and commercial transport, vehicle fleet owners, vehicle OEMs, autonomous vehicles (AVs) will consume the data provided by the C-V2X data analytics service.
Provide high-definition online information to connected vehicles: road lanes occupancy, stationary vehicles, the exact location of vehicle queues, potentially dangerous road spots
Provide GLOSA (Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory) for AV, EV, commercial and hydrogen vehicles
V2ROADS is using C-V2X data analytics assets in 5G MEC (Multiaccess Edge Computing) infrastructure to support the below features and use cases:
Generate (update) static and dynamic layers of the road HD map
Define vehicle and driver individualized usage and vehicle control profiles on road / weather conditions and other road, vehicle and driving context information
Automatically detect correlations / patterns in usage and vehicle control profiles across vehicle models, fleets, owners and automatically link them to the road / weather conditions and other road, vehicle and driving context events
Automatically detect deviations in vehicle / driver behaviours vs. typical (usual) patterns
Generate recommendations for the road owner on how to improve the traffic situation, reduce travel risks, improve ROI
Independently access the effectiveness of the traffic optimization work conducted by a third party (payment for result).
